Brenda Joyce Middleton

May 02, 1951 - January 01, 2026

Brenda Joyce Middleton

Brenda Joyce Middleton, age 74, passed away on January 1, 2026, in Savannah, Georgia.

Brenda was born on May 2, 1951, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, to the late Herman Benton Cook and Helen Sylvia Delores Cook. She spent much of her life devoted to education, family, music, and faith.

She is married and survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Wallace Pierpont Middleton, and together they shared a life centered on love, service, and family. Brenda was a proud mother to her son, Wallace P. Middleton, Jr., and her daughter, Sarah Helen Harbin. She was also a cherished grandmother to 11 grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy.

Brenda is survived by her brother, Kevin Mark Cook, and sister-in-law, Julie Cook; and her brother-in-law, Cord L. Middleton, Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Brenda was an avid lifelong learner and educator. She graduated Walker High School in Atlanta, DeKalb Junior College in Clarkston, Georgia, and attended Georgia State University in Atlanta. Her career in education spanned elementary, middle, and junior high school, where she touched countless lives as a teacher. She also served as a junior varsity softball coach, mentoring students both in the classroom and on the field at Bible Baptist School.

Active in her church community, Brenda faithfully authored and published Treasurer Keepers the Stand in 2011, demonstrating her Christian faith and stewardship. Music was another deep passion of her life—she was a gifted songwriter, singer, composer, and guitarist, sharing her talents generously with those around her.

Brenda will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, devotion to her family, and unwavering faith. Her legacy lives on through the many students she taught, the music she created, and the family she loved so deeply.
